Student Council
In many cases, students can best empathize with the situation and problems of other students. That's why you have your student council (GuK, Huwi, SoWi, WIAI), which on the one hand helps you with problems and uncertainties, but on the other hand also plans numerous events such as summer and Christmas parties, regulars' tables, games evenings, LaTeX tutorials and more. In addition, the student council represents the voice of the students in numerous committees at the university and throughout Germany in order to stand up for the best possible study situation.

Studying
Is your own apartment not a suitable environment for quiet, concentrated study or does the presence of other students increase the pressure to actually work on the upcoming assignment? The classic solution: the university library. In Bamberg there are 6 of them! In addition to borrowing books, you can simply look for one of the (usually) free workstations in your favorite library and take care of your seminar papers, lectures and more. For our night owls, the ERBA library (where all the computer science courses are based) is even open 24/7. If you only want to browse through virtual pages for suitable literature, the Bamberg catalog is the right place for you.
In addition to the libraries as study rooms, there are also several other study rooms at the ERBA, which are equipped with screens, armchairs, flipcharts or beanbags, depending on the room. If all the study rooms are occupied, our room search tool will help you find a free seminar room.

Abroad & Career
The University of Bamberg supports its students with a wide range of offers to make the transition to professional life easier. A central element is the online Career Days, where students have the opportunity to get to know potential employers and find out about various professional fields.
At the Faculty of WIAI, the Career Center is responsible for the annual Career Day, at which numerous companies from SAP consulting to the police to software companies present themselves (and bring lots of goodies!). In addition, internships abroad are arranged through the Corporate Internship Program. Further offers include the WIAI job exchange, where you will receive curated job offers.
USA, Japan or Sweden - these and many other countries are possible with the University of Bamberg's exchange programs. At the same time, we ourselves are a popular destination for many Erasmus students and students on the Master's program in International Software Systems Science. There are numerous credit transfer options in many degree programs, allowing you to seamlessly integrate a semester in another country into your studies. More information on possible target universities, deadlines and experience reports is available from the International Office during the regular initial consultations and the information evenings that take place several times a year. At the Faculty of WIAI, students also report on their stays abroad as part of the WIAI abroad program organized by the WIAI student council.
The Office for Innovation and Start-ups (BIG) at the University of Bamberg supports students, employees and alumni in implementing their business ideas. It offers start-up advice, workshops and access to co-working spaces and an innovation lab. The BIG also helps with applications for funding programs such as the EXIST start-up grant.

Food
Catering at the University of Bamberg depends entirely on the respective location. At Feki and in the city center in Austra?e, there are fully-fledged canteens that offer several hot meals and cold dishes at lunchtime from Monday to Friday. At Markuplatz and ERBA there is only one cafeteria run by the Studierendenwerk Würzburg. The cafeteria serves one hot dish (menu) from Monday to Thursday, alternating between meat/fish, vegetarian or vegan. There is also a selection of sandwiches, pizza and vegan bowls.
There are also bakeries, butchers, supermarkets, sushi and more close to the university locations. If you have a little more time at lunchtime, you can also take the bus or bike from the ERBA to the canteen in the city center.

Continued education
In addition to programming languages, you can also learn a variety of “real” languages at the University of Bamberg through the Language Center, such as English and French, of course, but also Swedish or Japanese, and in many cases even incorporate them into your studies. In addition, the VHB offers a wide range of online modules from all over Bavaria on all kinds of topics (some of which can also be incorporated into your studies!). Your skills are rounded off with modules on starting a business, community service and communication training from the Center for Key Competencies. In other words, everything that is relevant for you (and your employer) in addition to the regular curriculum!
Consulting

The University of Bamberg has numerous facilities whose aim is to support you in your studies in every situation. Don't be afraid to contact the listed offices, no matter how small the question may seem—they will be happy to help you with advice and assistance, even before you start your studies!
The easiest way to find the right point of contact is via the conflict management system. You can also find a complete list of all the advisory services offered by the University of Bamberg here.

Center for Key Competencies
The Center for Key Competencies (ZSK) offers modules that teach skills that are relevant to students throughout the university. These include modules such as community service, communication training and starting a business. Workshops from the Key Competencies in Computer Science module teach relevant IT skills without prior knowledge, even for non-computer science students.
And the best thing is: Several degree programs allow that the ECTS earned there can even be transferred into the degree program!
