Our Mission
Our central concern is clear: we want to empower women at all levels of academic qualification and promote their career progression. The faculty's current figures demonstrate the necessity of this. While women are well represented among students, accounting for 55 per cent, this figure drops to 41 per cent at the academic staff level. However, at the academic staff level, their representation falls to 41 percent. Among professors, this figure falls further still to just 24 per cent (as of 30 September 2019). This development underscores the clear need for action.
Our work therefore focuses on two areas: we are politically active in faculty and university committees, while also providing direct support to female students and academic staff, including through gender equality funding for research-related activities. We also promote networking among female academic staff through informal exchange formats such as the Diversity Stammtisch, for example.
Furthermore, key areas of our work affect all faculty members. We are committed to respectful and appreciative interaction, and we offer comprehensive counselling services. In collaboration with other counselling centres at the university, we raise awareness of respectful behaviour and provide information on how to deal with any kind of transgression. Our counselling services are aimed at students, research assistants and professors alike.
