Professional background
Matthias Dütsch has held the Professorship for Sociology, especially work and employment at the Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg since March 2023. He also works at the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA). In the summer semester of 2017, he substituted the W2 professorship for Sociology, in particular Market and Organization at the Institute of Sociology at the University of Leipzig. Until 2016, he was a research assistant at the Chair of Labor Studies at the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg, where he received his doctorate in 2014. From 2002 to 2008, he studied social sciences at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU).
His research interests lie in the field of empirical labor and occupational research. His particular focus is on minimum and low wages, occupational stress and strain, employment trajectories and occupational mobility as well as empirical justice research with regard to wages and wage distribution. A central aspect of his academic work is policy advice and the transfer of knowledge into the practice.
Matthias Dütsch is a board member of the German Association for Socio-Scientific Labor Market Research (SAMF).
