Prof. Dr. Yelva Larsen awarded the “Green Angel”

This award recognizes exemplary achievements in the fields of environmental and consumer protection.

Prof. Dr. Yelva Larsen, Head of Department of Science Education at Otto Friedrich University in Bamberg, was honored with Bavaria's “Green Angel” award. The award recognizes exemplary achievements in the fields of environmental and consumer protection.

The citation highlighted how Prof. Larsen combines theoretical knowledge with concrete design possibilities. For her, education for sustainable development and sustainability are not abstract concepts, but projects to get involved in. Whether with the UniBees, escape rooms, interactive exhibitions, or Sustainability Month, her initiatives promote broad awareness of environmental protection and nature conservation and have an impact far beyond the university. Prof. Larsen plays a key role in making sustainability visible and tangible in the region: “Because for her, her teaching assignment does not end at the door to the lecture hall!”
